In February 1999, the Florida Elks closed the Florida Elks Children's Hospital. In its place, the Florida Elks have established an in-home therapy program. Rather than provide rehabilitation services in a central location, the association will hire physical therapists, provide them with vans in which to travel, and arrange for youths in need of therapy to receive services at home for absolutely free. The program plans to have 14 vans to cover the state.
The Florida Elks Youth Camp is situated on 385 acres. It features 21 cabins and each cabin sleeps 9, a kitchen facility, swimming pool, golf driving range, archery, primitive camping sites, baseball, basketball, boating, ropes course, tennis, softball, a pavilion that serves as the dining call, TV viewing area, meeting hall and nighttime activity center.
