There are many things that we are trying to accomplish which are considered by many to be for the good of the Lodge. As is frequently true, these projects are not agreeable to everyone and the result is one of dissention and in some cases irritability. I was away these past 12 days or so and it has been reported to me that in some cases these disagreements have spilled over into our more public areas.

This is a condition that cannot be tolerated. There is no more destructive force in a Lodge than someone coming into the lounge or ballroom for a peaceful evening only to be annoyed by someone else making their views on various subjects public. Unfortunately, in most cases these people are expressing their positions far too loudly.

We are all in favor of free speech, but the other people within hearing distance are also protected by our Statutes against having to endure unwanted opinions forced upon them. I am certain this practice will stop immediately.

The Lodge is blessed with several meeting rooms, a large parking lot and plenty of places to express your opinions to one another without disturbing others. We need to keep in mind that we are all members with the same goal. We want to do what is right for the Lodge and through the Lodge help the less fortunate among us. That is the purpose of the BPOE.

On a lighter note we have had a very successful October and are in line to continue an upward trend for the rest of year. There are many events scheduled and these are selling out almost as quickly as the tickets are put on sale. The PER’s lobster dinner was a great success and I want to thank the PER’s for their contribution to the Lodge. I understand the Halloween dance and other programs on the schedule are filling up within a week or two from the time the tickets go on sale. The members living here full time have to remember our membership increases greatly at this time of the year and if you wait to buy your tickets for these events you are probably in for a disappointment.

If we keep up the good work and all pull together this will continue to be best Lodge in Florida.

Happy Thanksgiving, Grover
