from Walla Walla, WA, Lodge #287

I was at your beautiful Lodge yesterday and was admitted by your Maintainance man even tho you were not open till later. I am one of the Pin Collectors/History Buffs here on the forums and got the information I needed and forwarded it to Norm Donovan a friend of mine who posted here earlier. I was reading the newspaper article in the Lobby display and am curious as to its contents and would like to find out facts deeper. If whoever maintains this site I sure would like contacted as to my questions. The Secretary was not to be in till Monday I was told.I will try to get back before I leave town.

Grace Dorsey (grace@hall.net)

from Fort Pierce, FL, Lodge #1520

I am the decendant of a Lodge #122 Elk. My Grandfather's name was Thomas P. Quinn. Because of his loyalty to the Elks we could call the club and find him there anytime he was AWOL. He always made sure his grandchildren had passes for the pool every summer, which was brand new at the time we started using it.

Now I am a recently initiated Elk, and I hope my Grandfather is proud that I am, even though I am a woman. He was from the "old school."

I am very excited and eagerly plan to visit the Shreveport Elks Club to find his name somewhere. I would be so grateful if I could get some historical information about Lodge #122, as well as any info I could learn about my grandfathers participation. Seeing that the Lodge number is so low, that tells me that Shreveport was among the very first and likely RICH in history.

I hope to meet the Shreveport Elks around Labor Day! Cheers! Grace Cornwell Quinn Cassidy Dorsey
