The contest is open to current high school seniors (high school graduates are not elgible to apply), who are citizens of the United States and applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks.
Males and female students compete separately.
The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four year scholarships to the highest rated applicants in the competion. (250 male, 250 female.)
