Newport, OR Lodge News

December Galley News

Hello everybody, here's the news from your galley. We have completed going through all of the items in the kitchen and eliminating items that were expired and unusable. Phew, I got to say it was quite the task. Thank you very much to Michael and Jeri for helping going through inventory items. Needless to say, your galleys and ship shape and ready for the holiday season.
The next next big upcoming event is the Christmas dinner. We will be feeding hundreds of people, as we do every year, and as we hope to do for many years to come. With the help of the Nazarene Church and volunteers from the Elks Lodge, we will make many people's holiday that much better.
I'm reaching out to all Elks to see if anybody has any interest in helping out in the galley. It saddens me to say that we were unable to provide a veterans dinner this year due to lack of volunteers. This is something that should not ever happen again. We need a volunteers to cook on weeknights, weekends, and for special events. We also need volunteers to help serve, clean, do dishes, you name it. Would you like to be in charge of Taco Tuesday, how about hot potato Wednesday, how about prime rib Friday? All those would be wonderful events for The Lodge to host, we just need helpful hands. The Lodge Kitchen is clean and ready for you to cook wonderful meals for our members. Please reach out to me if you have any interest in helping out.

Gastronomically yours,
Dan Driver
