Elks Lodge #1988 held its Flag Day celebration June 14, 2023. Present at the event were Elks Lodge officers and members and Boy Scout Troop 646 to parade the different versions of the colonial flags, American flags and the POW/MIA flag from one post to another. The Benevolent Order of Elks were the first to observe and are the largest supporter of Flag Day. From the founding of Jamestown to present day the flag of our country is historically rich. Esquire Bob Tiegs recounted this history in the following presentation:

This week Walterboro Bingo was blessed to be able to assist three worthy programs in Colleton County. Bingo gave the Coastal Electric Trust $500 for its “Round Up” program. We also donated $500 worth of food items to Water Church of God and Mt. Zion AME Church’s food pantries. ❤️

We are at Downtown Walterboro’s First Thursday in front of Colleton Day Spa. Come by and say “hi” if you’re in the area. We have shoot out tickets too!

On March 18, volunteers with Walterboro Elks Lodge #1988 gave back to the community, with purchases from the Walterboro Cash N’ Carry totaling approximately $4,000; this was made possible with a grant received from the Elks National Fund (ENF). Those who volunteered were Exalted Ruler Donna Miller; Robert Baggett; Paul Turner; Mark and Beth Murdaugh; Ernest and Betty Enfinger; Larry and Rhonda McDonald; and ENF Chairperson Mary Jo Fox. They met with a group of volunteers from The Special Gathering of Walterboro, S.C., a ministry within the mentally challenged community. A special thanks goes to Cash N’ Carry for having ordered the items. The items collected will be distributed to The Special Gathering’s pantry, which is located behind Faith Church, on Bells Highway
