The Skowhegan-Madison Elks Lodge teamed up with Skowhegan Savings Bank in the summer of 2008 to honor eight youngsters for their achievements during Elks National Youth Week. The students from four area school districts each received a $50 U.S. Savings Bond. The Skowhegan-Madison Elks Lodge participated in the Skowhegan Memorial Day services on May 26,2008.



Debra Tanner of Skowhegan (left)was named Mother of the Year at the May 11, 2008 Mother's Day cermony. Also pictured are Exalted Ruler Julie A. Washburn and 2007 Mother of the Year Leslie O. Korhonen.

Honorees for the 2007-08 lodge year were presented with their plaques by Exalted Ruler Julie A. Washburn. Pictured (left to right) are Richard A. Corson, Officer of the Year; Louann Barnes, Elk of the Year; and Larry Ross, Citizen of the Year.



The 2008 Skowhegan-Madison Hoop Shoot was held at Madison Memorial High School on Jan. 13. Top finishers in the girls' division were (front row) Christie Vicneire, 2nd place (12-13), Madeline Wood, winner (8-9); Bronte Elias, 2nd place (12-13); (back row) Cheyenne Malloy, winner (12-13); and Cailee Manzer, winner (10-11). Not pictured: Gabriele Sirois, 2nd place (8-9). Cheyenne had the best overall score in any age group: 23 out of 25 shots.
