Veteran’s Painting Event 2024

On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, our lodge, the Oklahoma City Elks Lodge #417, hosted a painting activity for Veterans from the Oklahoma City VA Hospital.  The Veterans arrived at the lodge at 11 am and were greeted by lodge volunteers Darla Morley the lodge VA representative, Dottie Hollis, Edna Shaw, Michelle Patton, Alex Sisson, and a pop in by ER Jay Patton.  Instructors Jay and Ben from Paint Your Art Out assisted the Veterans with painting a deserted beach scene.  The Veterans were served lunch during a break in painting; sandwiches from Chick-fil-a and fresh fries & tater tots prepared at the lodge by Alex Sisson; Edna Shaw and Dottie Hollis provided the desserts.  The staff and Veterans from the VA Hospital were pleased with their final masterpieces.
