Lodge Conducts Patriot Day Remembrance

Using the ritual provided by Grand Lodge, our officers, led by Exalted Ruler Jack Houlihan, conducted a very memorable ceremony on September 11, 2024.

The following poem by New York snowbirds Carol and Robert Dowgiallo was read at the ceremony.

Two Tall Towers

There once were two tall towers

that stood upon this land.

There once were two tall towers

so handsome and so grand.

Towers filled with many lives

with people young and old.

Towers where they came to work

their stories yet untold.

So many lives cut short this day

on land and in the air.

So many lives cut short this day

it seems somehow unfair.

We know that life's a mystery

we cannot understand.

My fervent prayer is that they're safe

in God's great loving hand.

The time will come to start anew,

of this we somehow must.

Although they're gone, they will live on

in every one of us.

So let us vow to not forget

the ones we lost today.

And may their light shine ever bright

to guide us on our way.

There once were two tall towers

that stood against the sun.

There once were two tall towers

and now, my God, there's none.

During the ceremony several members offered remembrances of their personal experiences on that fateful day.

Also included in the ceremony was a video of The USAF Band's rendition of the Celtic Aire There Are No Words.
