Grand Exalted Ruler visits 2257
October 9th, West Shore-Harrisburg Lodge was graced with a visit from Grand Exalted Ruler Douglas A. Schiefer and First Lady Julia.
The distinguished guests were visiting the area for the Pennsylvania State Elks Fall Convention held at the Red Lion Inn in Harrisburg the following Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
On Wednesday, the visitors arrived promptly at 6 pm. The Lodge officers and Past Exalted Rulers formed a greeting line and then gathered for group pictures.
The Lodge officers then presented a gift to the GER of $1000 donation to the Elks National Foundation in his name.
Before settling in for dinner, Kris Benedict, PER, hosted a tour for our guests, showing all the wonderful features of our Lodge.
The Lodge was burgeoning with members and guests. The ballroom was open for overflow seating and extra staff were on hand. Despite an extremely busy night, the service was prompt and the food delicious.
Once dinner was over, the real fun began with Karaoke. The entire group, and a few officers got up to sing “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond. It didn't take too long before the whole bar was joining in. Good times never seemed so good!
Special thanks to the Trustees for the Lodge cleanup before the visit and to Kris Benedict, PER for the planning and coordination. Thanks to everyone for creating another magical evening at 2257.
