DUNKIRK ELKS FLOORING PROJECT - Fund Raising Information Attached
Dear Members of Dunkirk Elks Lodge #1776,
If you have visited our lodge during the past 18 months you may have noticed the many projects that Elk's members have completed. The banquet room received quite an upgrade with painting the walls and ceiling, improving electrical outlets, adding a beautiful coffee bar constructed and donated by Joe Sommers and a deep cleaning of the pictures of past Exalted Rulers and other wall hangings. The office was moved into the southeast corner of the bar allowing a more spacious space for members to socialize while enjoying a beverage, a meal and/or a friendly game of video bowling. The walls and ceiling were painted, behind the bar refurbished, new lighting and ventilation was installed and the back entryway was upgraded to include a beautiful etching on the glass of our Elks logo. Outside new lighting was installed along the roof line of the building and the ELKS sign on the front was painted purple. Ongoing outside cleanup in continuing. All of this has been accomplished by volunteer help with the only cost to the lodge being for materials. Many thanks to all those that volunteered the time and skill to assist in this upgrade.
There have been countless compliments from members and non-members on all the upgrades. We have rented our banquet room for weddings, wedding receptions, retirement receptions, birthday parties, bowling banquets, class reunions, celebrations of life and various other meetings from groups in our community. Renting equals income. Compliments overflow from every group that has used our facility.
There is one more project that needs to be tackled. The flooring in both the banquet room and the bar area needs to be replaced. This is a project that cannot be accomplished by volunteers doing the labor. In the banquet our beautiful dance floor can be refurbished but the carpet area needs total replacement. All the flooring in the bar needs replaced. We would like to replace the flooring in the bar area with vinyl plank. That would allow the cleaning and maintenance to be so much easier. There has been an estimate given for the labor to remove existing carpet in banquet room and to remove existing carpet and tile in bar area, to install new carpet in banquet room and install vinyl plank in bar and at the rear entry to the banquet room. Would also smooth the existing tile behind the bar. This estimate does not include the carpet, the vinyl plank and any other material needed. The estimate is approximately $8,000.00 for the labor. We will have an estimate soon for the carpet, vinyl plank and materials. It also does not include refurbishing the dance floor. We have yet to get an estimate for the dance floor. We could be looking at $12,000 plus for entire project.
We are asking you, the members of our lodge, to help out. A donation of any size would be greatly appreciated and every penny raised will go directly to financing this project. You may give your donation (cash of check) to Vicky May, Bob Ford or Joe Sommers. Donations may also be mailed to Dunkirk Elks Lodge, 1026 S. Main St., Dunkirk, IN 47336. Checks should be made payable to Dunkirk Elks Lodge #1776. In memo section please indicate money is for flooring project. A written receipt will be provided.
