Dear Brothers and Sisters in Elkdom … It may only be the actual first day of summer on the calendar, the summer solstice, longest day of the year, but the heat sure feels like those, lazy, hazy, DAWG days of summer. It's certainly been anything but lazy around YOUR Elks Lodge. We recently tried a new kebab skewer Tuesday evening meal and Bob (Braun) and Stu recently cooked a Tuesday night cookout style meal outdoors on, thus far, The Hottest Tuesday of the year. Lots of bustling activity. The May 11th Lodge 75th Anniversary Banquet and Birthday Party was a truly magnificent evening. Several District and Grand Lodge dignitaries were in attendance, Including The Elks State President and his lovely First Lady. Another recent Tuesday evening meal of Beef and Noodles sold 139 meals!! Your Lodge continues to support local youths and other worthy causes, and there is indeed more good news on the horizon. PER James Fulks was able to attend The Indiana Elks Association State Convention in Indianapolis on The Lodge's behalf and brought back some very good information, along with another Elks National Foundation Per Capita Best Lodge In The East Central Indiana District Award! This is a BACK TO BACK winning of this prestigious Award and it wouldn't be possible without the generosity of ALL of you who supported our Christmas Charity Auction and other events throughout the year. In July our only regularly scheduled meeting would fall on July 4th, so since the Lodge will be closed on July 4th, our only Lodge meeting will be Thursday July 18th. Our August Lodge Meeting will be held on the first Thursday in August, which just happens to fall on August 1st. Your Lodge continues to thrive and grow. We just initiated three new Lodge Members at our most recent Lodge Meeting and all three were very enthusiastic and really embraced the gravity of the ceremony of initiation and spoke of really looking forward to being active in Our Lodge. When you see our three newest faces around the Lodge please give them a hearty and warm welcome into our Wonderful Benevolent And Protective Order. The three are Ryan Johnson, Carol Hatzell and Rhody Braun. A special Congratulations to Bob Braun for his second grandson being initiated into our fine organization. Enjoy your Summer. Remember there is always a great breakfast at the Lodge on the first Saturday of each month from 8-10 AM, and on every hot summer Tuesday night, keep the heat out of your kitchen and come dine at YOUR ELKS LODGE!! SINCERELY AND BENEVOLENTLY YOURS: Vicky S. May Exalted Ruler James D Fulks III PER
