8/12/2024 Ocala, FL Lodge No: 286
uses its Gratitude Grant to work with Interfaith Emergency Homeless Shelter. Every month of the grant year, the Lodge provides food for residents of the shelter. During odd-numbered months, Lodge members cook and serve nutritious meals. During even-numbered months, members stock the shelter shelves with needed food, hygiene and clothing items.
8/12/2024 Bristol County, RI Lodge No: 1860
uses its Impact Grant to continue its East Bay Cares Program, now in its 16th year. The food distribution program supports non-profits and emergency services and has become the go-to for many in the community. An example of this came recently when police, responding to a fall, noticed the woman had no food at home. The Lodge was the first point of contact to get her the food she needed while she recovered from her injuries.
8/12/2024 Chattanooga, TN Lodge No: 91
uses its Beacon Grant for two projects. Through partnerships with local and neighboring county law enforcement, the Lodge provides Blessing Bags to individuals experiencing homelessness. The bags include hygiene products, socks, hats and gloves. The Lodge also provides winter clothing to elementary school students. The presentation of the clothing includes snacks and story time.
The Elks National Foundation allocated nearly $16 million this year to fund the Community Investments Program. Lodges meet local needs through grants that offer Elks opportunities to serve their community in ways that will raise the Lodge's profile, energize the membership, encourage former members to return to the fold, and gain the notice of people who want to be part of an organization that's doing great things.
