9/24/2024 St. Albans, VT Lodge No: 1566
uses its Gratitude Grant to support a recently burglarized local food pantry. Service has been limited due to the loss of food and kitchen equipment, but the Lodge is stepping in to replace lost items and assist the pantry in getting back to normal function.
9/24/2024 Virginia Beach, VA Lodge No: 2268
uses its Spotlight Grant for a Community Baby Shower. By partnering with the Virginia Beach Public Library, the Lodge offers a parent literacy workshop incorporating early literacy skills and provides essential baby care items. This initiative addresses the pressing issue of kindergarten readiness in a community where many children enter school behind academic benchmarks.
9/24/2024 Ames, IA Lodge No: 1626
uses its Beacon Grant to partner with Youth and Shelter Services of Story County, an organization that provides services to teens and young adults who have experienced homelessness or are survivors of human trafficking. The Lodge participates by organizing member teams to shop for necessary items, ensuring that young adults have essential supplies as they transition into independent living.
The Elks National Foundation allocated nearly $16 million this year to fund the Community Investments Program. Lodges meet local needs through grants that offer Elks opportunities to serve their community in ways that will raise the Lodge's profile, energize the membership, encourage former members to return to the fold, and gain the notice of people who want to be part of an organization that's doing great things.
