5/21/2024 Blythe, CA Lodge No: 1799

uses its Gratitude Grant to assist a local food pantry and soup kitchen that serves people experiencing homelessness and low-income families. Beyond simply donating food, the Lodge provides requested items to the pantry, including clothing, hygiene products and blankets. Lodge members also bring in food, which they then prepare and serve during their regular visits to the facility.

5/21/2024 High Point, NC Lodge No: 1155

uses its Spotlight Grant for a Hunger and Essential Needs Assistance project. The High Point community is considered a food desert, and the lack of healthy food options is a major concern. The Lodge works with a local non-profit to provide cooking classes for low-income families, using locally sourced ingredients to ensure recipes can be applied to future meals. In addition to purchasing necessary food and supplies, Lodge members help teach the classes.

5/21/2024 Ashland, OH Lodge No: 1360

uses its Spotlight Grant for a Hunger and Essential Needs Assistance project. Every three months, Lodge members gather at the local grocery store to shop for supplies needed at the local food pantry. Regular refills of the pantry keep it well-stocked, especially when are they most needed after the holidays. Purchasing the food locally helps to keep the Ashland community strong, and Lodge members are encouraged to supplement the project through the Lodge’s food drives.

The Elks National Foundation allocated nearly $16 million this year to fund the Community Investments Program. Lodges meet local needs through grants that offer Elks opportunities to serve their community in ways that will raise the Lodge's profile, energize the membership, encourage former members to return to the fold, and gain the notice of people who want to be part of an organization that's doing great things. To learn more about the Community Investments Program, please visit elks.org/CIP. If you would like to speak to someone in the CIP office, we can be reached at 773-755-4730.
